Glass properties

The basic properties of the glass:

  • the substance an amorphous there is no structured internal construction
  • There is no constant melting point
  • isotropic material
  • weak Guide to electricity
  • material with a high chemical resistance (it is not resistant to hydrofluoric acid)
  • mechanical properties of glass work:
    • Mons scale hardness of 5-7
    • the density of construction glass 2400-2600 kg/m³
    • flexural strength 30 – 50 MPa
    • compressive strength of 800-1000 MPa
    • Young’s modulus GPa 70

The properties of the glass are dependent on how the cast and to a limited extent from the chemical composition.
